Literary translation
I primarily translate novels and short story collections from English and Spanish into Italian. Most of my work has been on Gothic and horror books from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but I also have experience with historical and utopian fiction.
As an avid reader of contemporary fiction, I am ready to tackle modern works, the language of which I am familiar with thanks to my readings (in both the original language and translation).

Specialised translation
The last three years spent translating master's courses have allowed me to delve into a variety of specialised fields, particularly the healthcare and the technical sectors.
I worked with different text formats, translating not only Word or PDF files but also slides, images and audio transcriptions. I completed this work with the help of CAT tools and other essential resources: SDL Trados Studio, Smartcat, and a long list of corpora are my partners when it comes to technical jargon.

Translation revision and machine translation post-editing
Working as a translator has given me an in-depth understanding of the translation process, which involves accurate analyses and interlockings to bring the text to life in the target language.
Even the best translator can make mistakes, though, and that's where the revisor comes in. By attentively comparing the original and translated texts, the revisor can look at the translator's work from a new perspective, catching slip-ups and correcting them.
AI-translated texts are the ones that need the most to be reworked, to compensate for the inability of the machine to get the meaning of a word or to correct its hallucinations. This can be done through machine translation post-editing.

Proofreading
In publishing I worked as a proofreader as well, correcting fictional and non-fictional texts both in Italian and English.
Proofreading is the final step when you put something into writing, and Word's autocorrect isn't enough: you need someone with a strong knowledge of grammar and spelling, but also watchful enough to catch everything!
