Know more about me
As I said, my name is Elisa, and I crossed paths with translation when I was finishing high school. It literally happened by chance, when I started translating short stories I read online as a hobby. Even though my method was non-existent and the results were more than questionable, it was then that I discovered the magic of ferrying words from one language to another.
The natural progression of this discovery was studying languages at University, first graduating in Linguistic Mediation at Siena's University for Foreigners, and then in Linguistics and translation at the University of Pisa. These degrees were followed by a long list of courses and seminars.
In 2018 I started working in publishing as a proofreader - working both on fuctional and non-fictional texts - for Betti Editrice. Later on, in 2020, I worked with Edizioni Clandestine as a revisor and then, between 2021 and 2022, my first translations were published: a novel and a couple of short-stories/essays for Edizioni Clandestine and a novel for ABEditore.
2023 marked the beginning of my adventure in the world of specialised translation, and I have spent the last three years working for TECH Global University. In this role, I have translated their master's courses from Spanish into Italian and handled machine translation post-editing.
Whether it's translation or texts written in English, my prime concern is to render in the best way what the author wanted to convey, and I do so through a careful analysis of both lexicon and context.
Translating doesn't always mean using the exact same words, but rather using the right ones.
